Tips for Traveling with Just a Carry On

How to Travel with Just a Carry On
  • The Right Bag for You: Check with your airline for carry-on guidelines. A general rule of thumb is to choose a bag that’s no larger than 23 x 14 x 9 inches. Remember you will be navigating crowded spaces and must carry the added weight. Small spinner suitcases, duffel bags and backpacks are ideal.
  • Pack Light: Only pack what you need for your trip. You can save space by rolling your clothes instead of folding them and using packing cubes or to keep everything organized.
  • Wear Your Heaviest Items: If you’re traveling with bulky items like a coat or boots, wear them on the plane to save space in your bag.
  • Pack Travel-Sized Toiletries: To save space and avoid any issues with TSA, use travel-sized toiletries or transfer your favorite liquids and gels into smaller containers. A Dopp Kit or Toiletry bag is ideal quick and easy access for screening.  Check the TSA website to verify what items are allowed in your carry-on bag.
  • Consider a Personal Item: Most airlines allow you to bring a small personal item like a tote bag or backpack in addition to your larger carry-on. Use this to your advantage and bring an additional shoulder bag for headphones, wallet, travel documents, etc
